An opera singer to change Hungary’s politics – level 2
13-03-2026 15:00
Andrea Rost is a famous Hungarian opera singer who performed around the world. She also worked with jazz, audiobooks, jewelry, and founded an opera academy.
Recently, she started focusing on politics. She is helping young people and campaigning for change.
She first acted politically in April 2024 at a demonstration, and though it had an impact on her music, she still took part in opposition events. She is now a vice president of the TISZA Party group and a candidate for office. She is using music to bring people together.
Rost grew up in Szolnok, where she first learned classical music from a TV program by Leonard Bernstein. She studied music formally, became famous all over the world, and performed in many big opera houses. She led large crowds singing songs at political events.
Difficult words: campaign (to work for something, like an idea or election, and try to get support), opposition (a group or people who disagree with or fight against another group), candidate (a person who is trying to get a job, position, or elected office).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What position does Andrea Rost hold within the TISZA Party group?
