Anti-Semitic Incident – level 2
21-02-2019 07:00
Yellow vests are a group of people who are protesting in France, and they have a protest every weekend. This weekend was the 14th protest.
A small group of protesters shouted anti-Semitic insults at a man. He is a 69-year-old Jewish philosopher, and the police came to protect him from possible violence.
In the centre of Paris, thousands of people protested. Police broke them up. The French president said that things like this are the opposite of what makes France great.
Difficult words: anti-Semitic (anti-Jewish), insult (saying something which makes the person feel very bad), violence (attacking, hitting the person).
