Asteroid Protection – level 3
02-05-2019 07:00
The American government agencies of NASA and FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) are working together to hold a drill in case an asteroid comes towards the earth.
Scientists from across the world are attending a conference this week to talk about objects which threaten the earth and the steps that we can take to stop them. NASA says that an asteroid hitting the earth is not likely, but the exercise will help develop ‘more effective communications with each other and with our governments’.
Difficult words: drill (a training), attend (be at an event), threaten (put in danger).
