Attack at Wedding – level 3
26-08-2019 07:00
In an online statement on Sunday, ISIS claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing at a wedding in Afghanistan’s capital of Kabul on Saturday the 18th. Sixty-three people died and more than 180 were injured.
The statement had an attachment of a picture of a young Pakistani man with an assault rifle. The text said that ISIS attacked Shiite Islam followers, which ISIS calls “rejecter polytheists,” or apostates. The attacker detonated an explosive vest, and ISIS also took responsibility for a car bombing after the attack at the wedding.
More than 1,000 guests were at the wedding and many children were killed in the attack. The bride and groom survived.
Difficult words: assault rifle (a big gun which can shoot fast), rejecter (somebody who rejects something – does not believe it), polytheist (a person who believes in more than one god), apostate (a person who rejects a religious belief or political principle).
