Barbara Bush Dies – level 2
23-04-2018 15:00
In Houston, Texas, Barbara Bush died at the age of 92; she was a First Lady to President George H. W. Bush and the mother of US president George W. Bush. She was the only woman to see both her husband and son become US presidents.
Barbara supported her husband’s presidency, met world leaders, and fought for civil rights, literacy, and helping the poor. She also shocked people when she said that one day maybe a woman would be president instead of her husband.
Difficult words: First Lady (the name for the wife of a US president), civil rights (the rights for all people to be treated fairly and with respect), literacy (be able to read and write).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
