The last step involves ozonating and filtering the water, which removes anthropogenic traces, making it cleaner than what is required for drinking water. At the brewery, they then adjust the water hardness slightly to make better beer.

Climate change has caused frequent water shortages, and even Germany experiences droughts and seasonal water use restrictions. Reusing treated wastewater is one way to address these challenges.
