Big Snake in Florida – level 2
19-04-2019 15:00
People found a 5-metre and 64-kilogram female python in a preserve in southern Florida. Pythons are usually between two to three metres long there.
The type of snake comes from Southeast Asia, but it lives in Florida. Sometimes pet owners let the snakes go when they get too big. Sometimes people let them go during hurricanes.
Pythons are an invasive species in Florida because there is no predator which would hunt them. People try to remove as many pythons as they can.
Difficult words: python (a big snake which kills animals with its big body, not by biting them), preserve (a place where animals are protected), invasive species (a type of animal or plant that comes from another place and takes over a new place), predator (an animal that eats another animal).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
