08-03-2024 07:00
Heavy rain brings problems to California. Rich people have big houses on cliffs near the sea. Rains cause the landslide. These problems are bigger and bigger. This happens because of climate change.
A very serious situation is in eight counties. This is about 20 million people. Rich people in cities like San Clemente and Dana Point worry very much. If the landslides, their houses will fall into the sea. Officials want to help. They will give money to people. Some experts say that people will need 150 billion dollars by 2100.
Some areas talk about moving away from the sea. But this problem is not only in California. Other states also deal with problems related to climate change.
Difficult words: slide (to move smoothly along a surface), climate change (when the weather is changing and is more unusual than before), related (connected).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What are some potential solutions for dealing with the problems caused by heavy rain and climate change in California, and how does this issue affect other states as well?
