Car Bomb in Somalia – level 3
06-01-2020 07:00
On Saturday, Somalia saw the worst truck bomb explosion in over two years.
It happened at a busy intersection in Somalia’s capital city of Mogadishu during rush hour. A police officer said on national TV that the explosion targeted a tax collection center.
Media reports say that 79 people were killed, and more than 100 people were injured; however, officials say that more than 90 people are dead.
No groups claimed responsibility, but the country’s president blamed the terrorist group Al-Shabab, which is linked to another terrorist group, Al-Qaeda. Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for a car bombing in Somalia earlier this year and three bombings last year.
Difficult words: intersection (a point where two or more roads cross), rush hour (the time of the day when traffic is the heaviest), blame (to say that somebody is responsible for doing something bad).
