Chicken Show at the Zoo – level 3

A special exhibit to celebrate Chinese New Year has been launched at a zoo in the Philippines.

The world exhibit shows roosters from all over the world.

The Chinese year of the rooster has just begun, and the organisers of this show want to remind people that all chickens and roosters originally came from the wild jungle chickens living in the forest. The organisers hope that the show will inspire people to save the remaining forests.

At the exhibit you can find our friends with feathers from Japan, England, America, Poland and China, just to name a few. But nothing quite stands up to the giant red rooster from France. He is two and a half feet tall and weighs 15 pounds and he takes the crown.

This exhibition has started at the perfect time, at the beginning of the year of the rooster celebrations.

Difficult words: launch (start), roosters (a cock, a male chicken), take the crown (be the king, win).
