Chinese cars on US roads – level 1

Chinese companies are working hard to make autonomous cars. These cars do not have a driver.
China already gives 16,000 licenses to test these cars on roads in China. Big companies like Baidu are testing also in the US. Their cars drive in California. They get information which helps make the cars better.
But in 2024, the US says that Chinese cars should not be on US roads. China can get information from these cars, like where people go. They may use it in a bad way. The two countries have different ideas about autonomous cars. The US cares about safety. For China, safety is not so much important. They want to grow fast. We do not know for how long will the US let Chinese cars go on its roads.
Difficult words: license (an official document which says that you can do something), safety (being safe).
