Chinese people love durian from Malaysia – level 2

03-10-2024 07:00

Malaysia produces a lot of durian, a fruit with a strong smell. The country will earn more money now that China will import fresh durian.

After a visit from the Chinese Premier, China agreed to accept this fruit, which many Chinese people consider a delicacy. The best time to harvest durians is early morning because they can fall if farmers don’t pick them quickly. Penang Island is great for growing durian; many high-quality types of durian grow there.

Malaysia is only 10% of the world’s durian exports but focuses on high-quality types. Farmers track each fruit’s origin to ensure quality for China. One farmer plans to keep his land and hopes to grow new types of durian and open his farm to tourists.

Difficult words: delicacy (special food which is very tasty), exports (things which a country sends to another country for sale), ensure (to make sure that something will happen).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What measures are Malaysian farmers taking to ensure the quality of durian fruits for export to China?
