Dianne Feinstein dies – level 2
05-10-2023 07:00
Dianne Feinstein, the US Senate’s oldest-serving member and a pioneering figure in American politics, died at the age of 90.
Feinstein was a gun control advocate, and she worked hard to implement the first federal ban on assault weapons. She also played an important role in investigating the CIA’s use of torture on foreign terrorism suspects. President Joe Biden said that Feinstein was tough and loyal. She was not only a strong politician but also a kind friend.
Feinstein’s death is an important event. She wanted to retire at the end of her term, and her death started a race for her Democratic seat.
Difficult words: pioneering (having new ideas or using new ways of doing things), advocate (a person who openly supports an idea), torture (harming someone to force them to do or say something).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What impact will the death of Dianne Feinstein have on US politics and gun control initiatives?
