Dogs help people – level 2

Canine Companions is an organization which trains pups to become facility dogs. The organization has 475 dogs at the moment, and 70 of them work in hospitals.
Parks is a two-year-old Labrador retriever, and he’s the first facility dog in a children’s hospital in Orlando, US. According to the staff, Parks is making a big difference. He can help patients when he opens the door or picks up things. He also helps children rehabilitate, and he makes them happy in a way that people can’t.
The pups enjoy helping people, and they love learning new things. It takes two months to train them to become facility dogs, and a growing number of hospitals use them.
Difficult words: facility dog (a trained dog that does specific tasks for people), staff (all the people who work for a company or organization), rehabilitate (to return to a normal life after an injury or operation).
