Drivers cannot get home – level 1
11-01-2022 07:00
An accident happens on a busy road in Virginia, US, last week. Several trucks crash. They block the road. Other cars cannot move. Then, a storm comes.
Up to 28 centimeters of snow fall. Some drivers leave their cars. Other drivers stay in their cars all night. Some people have nothing to eat and drink. Some drivers run out of gas.
Local authorities close a part of the road. Workers must clear the road. They clear the trucks. It takes them many hours. Some cars must leave the road by a different way.
The weekend is difficult for many people. Many people have COVID-19. Airlines cancel trips on planes. People cannot get home from work and holidays.
Difficult words: block (to stop movement), run out (to use all of something), clear (to take something away)).
