Electric racing cars – level 3
24-09-2024 07:00
Formula Student is a global competition where teams of university students design and build electric cars. These cars compete in various events across Europe, including autocross, endurance trials, and acceleration tests.
AMZ Racing, a team from Swiss universities, stood out last year by setting a world acceleration record, going from 0 to 100 km/h in less than a second. Their vehicle uses advanced engineering, including powerful fans that increase the car’s grip on the track. Each year, the team develops a new design based on the previous year’s lessons. The competition is more about gaining engineering skills than just winning. Many participants see it as valuable practical experience for future careers.
While some innovations may impact the automotive industry, the main goal is for students to improve their technical abilities. AMZ Racing performed well in the recent Formula Student competitions, winning several events in Switzerland, Hungary, and Germany.
Difficult words: autocross (a form of competition in which cars are driven around an obstacle course), innovation (a new idea or method).
