Emergency Landing – level 3
09-07-2020 07:00
On Thursday morning, a truck driver in Louisiana, US, got the shock of his life as a small airplane soared only meters above his vehicle to make an emergency landing.
The driver said that he did not hear anything until the plane came into sight and that he could not believe what he saw. Dashcam footage captured the moment of the plane coming down on the busy highway.
The pilot, Howie Guidry, experienced engine trouble at 2,000 feet and there was no airport nearby. Guidry knew that he could not manage to return to an airport, and he remembered his training instructor’s guidance to seek out the biggest highway available.
After a safe landing, Guidry and a mechanic, who was flying with him, quickly pushed the plane off the highway. Luckily, no one was injured in the incident.
Difficult words: soar (to fly in the air), dashcam (a video camera that is used to record the view of the road from inside a vehicle), seek out (to search).
