FC Barcelona smart stadium – level 3

16-04-2026 07:00

FC Barcelona is redefining the fan experience with its renovation of the Spotify Camp Nou.

The ambitious project began in 2023 and, for 1.26 billion euros, aims to transform the iconic ground into one of the world’s smartest and most sustainable venues.

By the time it is fully completed in 2027, the stadium will accommodate over 100,000 spectators. The design features a retractable roof that harvests rainwater and generates solar energy, which reflects a strong commitment to green technology. Inside, the smart experience is powered by high-density 5G and Wi-Fi networks, which will enable fans to share their experiences in real time. Screens throughout the venue ensure that supporters never miss a moment of the match, even when leaving their seats for food. The club aims to blend modern digital transformation with its unique Catalan identity and the legendary values of being more than a club.

Difficult words: redefine (to change the way people think about something by doing it in a new and better way), iconic (something or someone that is very famous and represents a particular idea or place), retractable (something that can move back or pull in), blend (to mix two or more things so they work well as one).
