Geneva International Film Festival – level 1
17-03-2025 07:00
The Geneva International Film Festival has a program called Impact Days. It receives 100 films. The festival chooses 12.
One is Children of Honey, a film about the Hadzabe people in Tanzania. They want to save their language. The Hadzabe are very old hunter-gatherers. They live in nature. But modern life is changing things. Jigar Ganatra is the film’s director. He says the Hadza want people to know their real story.
At the festival, filmmakers meet people who can help them. Simona Nickmanova works on the film. She wants to help the Hadza keep their language and land safe. All the filmmakers want to use films to help people.
Difficult words: receive (to get), hunter-gatherer (a person who lives by hunting and finding food), filmmaker (someone who controls the making of a movie).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What challenges does modern life pose to the Hadzabe, and how do the film's director and crew member work to address these challenges through their storytelling?
