India heatwave – level 1
10-05-2022 07:00
A heatwave hits India. It happens every year. This year, it happens early.
Experts say that the temperatures may be 43 degrees Celsius. People try to stay out of the sun. Poor people and people without homes are in danger. They have nowhere to go. People worry that heatwaves will may be stronger in the future.
Heatwaves kill many people every year. The worst heatwave in India is in 2015. It kills more than 2,000 people.
Monsoon rains bring colder weather in the summer. They stop the heatwave. Maybe stronger heatwaves are from global warming.
Difficult words: heatwave (a long time of very hot weather), monsoon rain (the heavy rain in Asia in summer), global warming (when the earth gets warm from weather and human activity).
