In Israel, the parliament makes new laws. The Supreme Court has less power now. Many people do not like this. They protest.

The US is worried, too. The court cannot stop government decisions anymore.

Some people think that this will make the government more corrupt. They are also scared that the government will not be so fair. Israel’s democracy is not very strong. So, the Supreme Court is very important. It protects people’s rights and the law.

The leader Benjamin Netanyahu wants more changes. But people are not sure about them. They are worried that Netanyahu will use these changes for his good. Netanyahu says that it is not true.

Difficult words: decision (an idea which you want to realize in the future), corrupt (when someone in power acts dishonestly), democracy (a form of government when people have the right to decide about things).
