Lesotho election – level 2
14-10-2022 15:00
In March this year, a rich diamond businessman created a new political party in Lesotho. The party was called the Revolution for Prosperity, and last week, it won the election.
The party didn’t get the majority in Lesotho’s parliament, and it will have to work with other parties to make a new government. The party promised that many things would change, and that Lesotho would become as successful as other countries in the region.
Lesotho is a landlocked kingdom in southern Africa, and it became independent from the UK in 1966. 2.14 million people live in the country. After years of many problems in the country, they wish to change the government to have a better future.
Difficult words: majority (more than a half), landlocked (when a country is not next to a sea), independent (free from control).
