London Bridge Attack – level 2
08-06-2017 15:00
On Saturday evening, a van hit people on London Bridge. The van then drove towards a market. Terrorists left the van and started stabbing people. Eight minutes after the attack began, police shot the terrorists dead.
Seven people died in the attacks and many were injured. Theresa May, Britain’s Prime Minister, later reacted to the attack and said that enough was enough. On Sunday morning, police arrested 12 people in East London.
On Monday, people came together in a vigil. Policemen and politicians laid flowers for the victims. London’s mayor Sadiq Khan gave a speech. He said that love will always be stronger than the terrorists’ hate.
Difficult words: stab (attack with a knife), vigil (an event when people show their respects and think about what happened).
