Matthew Perry, known for his role as Chandler Bing in the famous TV series ‘Friends’, died at the age of 54.

According to the media, Perry drowned in a hot tub at his home in Los Angeles. NBC, the network which aired Friends, confirmed his death. Many celebrities and public figures expressed their sorrow and shock, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau knew Perry from their time as schoolmates in Ottawa.

Perry’s role in Friends made him a worldwide star, and many people still love the show today. Perry struggled with addiction, a problem he talked about in a book he wrote in 2022. His death is a big loss in the entertainment world.

Difficult words: drown (to die in water), sorrow (feeling very sad), addiction (when someone cannot stop doing something that is not good for him, for example drinking alcohol).
