Meteor Over Michigan – level 3
24-01-2018 15:00
A meteoroid is a small body moving in the solar system, and when it enters the earth’s atmosphere, we call it a meteor.
One meteor recently lit up the night sky across southern Michigan, a state in the northern USA. Reportedly,it sent homes shaking too.
An astronomer explained that as a meteor moves in the atmosphere, it compresses the gases in front of it. The gasses heat up and the meteor vaporises, producing light and noise.
Difficult words: body (a piece of something), reportedly (according to what has been reported – said), compress (make much smaller), vaporise (turn into vapour – gas).
