Migrants in a lorry with a bear – level 2
20-10-2015 07:00
A one-year-old polar bear was travelling from Moscow Zoo to England. When he was in Calais, some migrants opened the lorry that he was in.
One migrant got scared and ran away. Three other migrants entered the lorry and hid behind the bear’s cage. They spent 10 minutes in total darkness before French police removed them from the truck.
The bear, whose name is Nissan, stayed calm during the incident. Now, he is now settling into his new home.
Difficult words: cage (something like a box for animals), settle into (to begin to feel comfortable in a new place or situation).
You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
What would you do if you saw a polar bear so close to you?
