Nepali New Year – level 2

In Bhaktapur, Nepal, thousands of people celebrated Nepali New Year, which also celebrates spring.

To mark the occasion, people dance, sing, and throw vermilion powder all over one another. They also pray for good harvests during the rainy season that will follow.

Difficult words: mark the occasion (make an event special), vermilion (an orange-red colour), good harvest (when you grow enough food on a farm).
