New Delhi is the capital city of India. It is a very dirty city. At this time of year, farmers burn the plants which they do not sell. People also celebrate a festival of lights. There are a lot of fireworks.

These activities make the air very dirty. People cannot breathe easily. They can have high blood pressure or problems with their hearts.

The situation is very dangerous. Officials want fewer cars on roads. People must stay at home. Children cannot go to schools.

Difficult words: capital (the most important city in a country), firework (an object that people light; it explodes in the air which makes colorful displays in the sky), blood pressure (how hard the heart beats or works inside the body).
