New US President – level 2
13-11-2020 07:00
Democrat Joe Biden became the winner of a battle with Donald Trump, and he became the new US president.
It took several days to count all the votes, and in the beginning, it seemed that Donald Trump would win again. But the situation changed and Biden took the lead. Good news for Biden came from Pennsylvania, where he won, and it was clear that Trump could not beat him. Biden’s supporters started to celebrate in streets across the US, but Trump’s supporters were not happy at all.
At the time when TV networks said that Biden was the winner, Trump was playing golf.
Difficult words: take the lead (to be ahead of others in a race or competition), supporter (somebody who likes someone or something, for example a sports team or a political leader), accept defeat (to stop trying to win and to admit that somebody else won).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
