People Save a Whale – level 2
01-09-2017 15:00
At a beach in Brazil, hundreds of people gathered around a beached humpback whale to help the animal. They dug holes to bring the water to the whale and threw buckets of water on it.
Eventually, the high tide came in and around the whale. The crowd helped the whale get back into deep water.
The whale was young, 13.8 metres long and weighed between 10 to 15 tonnes.
Difficult words: gather (come together), beached (when a water animal is on sand and cannot get back into the water), humpback whale (a very large whale).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
