Pictures of the Earth – level 3
22-08-2022 15:00
NASA launched a new website featuring images of the full, sunlit side of the earth taken by a camera located one million miles away.
The Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera captures the earth as it orbits for a new project between NASA and other American agencies. The project’s objective is to maintain real-time solar wind monitoring, which is crucial for weather alerts and forecasts.
Each day, NASA will post images showing the Earth as it rotates.
Difficult words: launch (to start something), feature (to have something), polychromatic (colourful), objective (something which you want to achieve), solar wind (a flow of charged particles from the sun), crucial (very important).
