Plastic Bags – level 3

The German Environment Ministry says it is working on legislation for banning plastic bags. The minister said that she wants Germany to “get out of the throw-away society” and use less plastic overall.

The ministry says that the use of plastic bags already dropped a lot since 2016, thanks to a voluntary agreement with businesses. The ban is the next step now.

The EU said last year that it is going to ban single-use plastics in 2021. In the New York state in the USA, most plastic bags will be banned next year.
