Politics in Haiti – level 2

Haiti’s prime minister wanted to increase the price of fuel by 47%. This led to three days of protests, and seven people died while businesses were robbed and destroyed.

After the protests, the prime minister resigned. Protesters now want the president to resign, too, because many people do not have jobs.

Difficult words: increase (make bigger), fuel (coal, gas or oil), resign (quit– stop being in a job such as the prime minister or president).
