Jacinda Ardern is New Zealand’s Prime Minister. She cancels her wedding. The reason is Omicron. Omicron is the new variant of the coronavirus. It is very infectious. Infectious means that people catch it easily.

The number of sick people is growing fast. No more than 100 people can go to sports or other events. This rule is similar for weddings. People must change their plans.

93% of adults in New Zealand already get a COVID-19 vaccine. Children can get the vaccine, too. Still, the number is going up for sick people. The country will not open to tourists yet.

Difficult words: wedding (an event when two people get married), variant (something which is a little different from other similar things), adult (a person who is older than a child).
