Problems with Mexican paradise – level 1

11-04-2025 15:00

Many people want to live in Tulum, Mexico, during the pandemic. It is a beach town with sun and music. Some people buy homes there. They spend a lot of money. But companies do not build or finish the homes.

One company wants to build six buildings, but finishes only one. One man from the company dies. Other people run away. The buyers lose their money.

Some people go to police. It does not help. Law in Mexico is difficult. The companies do not always own the land. But they still sell it. Now, people are more careful. They want to buy only finished homes.

Difficult words: buyer (a person who buys something), law (rules of a country), careful (when you think a lot before you do something).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

How did challenges with incomplete construction projects and problematic land ownership lead to increased caution among home buyers?
