Queen Elizabeth is born on April 21, 1926. Her uncle is the British king. He abdicates in 1936. Elizabeth’s father George VI becomes the new king.

Elizabeth becomes the queen next. She is 25 years old. She is the queen for 70 years. She leads for the longest time for any king or queen in history. During the 70 years, 15 UK prime ministers and 14 US presidents are leaders.

Elizabeth’s husband is Prince Phillip. They are married for 74 years. He dies in 2021.

Elizabeth and Philip have four children. The oldest child is Charles. Queen Elizabeth dies last Thursday in Scotland. Charles becomes the new king.

Difficult words: abdicate (to give up a job as a king or queen), prime minister (the leader of a government), husband (a married man).
