Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is visiting Guinea. He will visit three countries in West Africa.

Russia wants to have more power there. Russian companies, like Yango Taxis, work in Senegal. Lavrov wants to talk about security and Guinea’s bauxite. Russia is popular in West Africa because it shows videos of Russian help on social media. Young Africans see Russia as a new helper.

Russia trades less with Africa than the EU. Russia trades 14 billion dollars last year. The EU trades 300 billion dollars. President Vladimir Putin never visits Africa, but Lavrov visits it many times.

Difficult words: security (being safe), bauxite (a rock from which people get metal called aluminium), trade (to do business with someone).
