Same-sex marriage legal in Greece – level 1

Greece decides about something important. They say yes to same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage means that two men or two women can marry.
Greece is the first Orthodox Christian country which do this. The church does not like this idea. But others think that it is good and important. People in Greece celebrate in Athens. They feel happy because they wait for this for a long time. Now, same-sex couples can have the same rights as everyone else.
It is a big change for Greece. Greece is a country where many people follow the Orthodox Church. Other countries may also decide to allow same-sex marriage. But we have to wait and see.
Difficult words: marriage (when two people get married), orthodox (when someone has the same ideas and beliefs as many people), right (what you can have or do).
