SeaWorld Orca Dies – level 3
11-01-2017 15:00
In 2010, an orca named Tilikum killed a trainer at SeaWorld in Orlando, USA when it dragged her underwater. The trainer was interacting with Tilikum in front of a live audience when the incident happened.
The trainer’s death inspired the 2013 documentary film “Blackfish” about the treatment of captive orcas, which prompted SeaWorld to then end its orca breeding programme 3 years later.
Now, according to SeaWorld, Tilikum died following a series of health concerns including a persistent lung infection.
Difficult words: prompt (push), breeding programme (a programme to help animals have babies), persistent (continuing).
