The Artemis II – level 2
13-04-2026 15:00
A team of four astronauts is making history. On their mission, called Artemis II, they traveled further away from Earth than any people before. They broke a record that Apolo 13 set more than 50 years ago.
On Monday, they flew around the far side of the moon. For about seven hours, they couldn’t talk to NASA because the moon was between their ship and the Earth. The crew includes three Americans and one Canadian.
This mission is a test flight. The astronauts are not landing on the moon this time; instead, they are testing the ship to make sure it is safe for future missions. They are practicing how to eat, exercise, and stay safe from space radiation.
Difficult words: make history (to do something very important what people will remember for a long time), crew (the group of people who work together on a spacecraft, ship, or plane), radiation (powerful energy in space which can be dangerous for people).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Why couldn’t the crew talk to NASA for about seven hours?
