The EU checks Meta – level 1

29-06-2026 07:00

European leaders are looking into a big computer company called Meta. This company owns Facebook and Instagram.

The leaders say that the company makes its apps dangerous for children. They think that the apps make children look at screens too much. The company also lets children under 13 use the networks, and this is against the EU rules.

Next month, some experts will help make new rules to keep young people safe. In the United States, many parents are angry because these apps hurt their children. Many people are taking the company to court. But the company is asking politicians for help to stop the parents.

Difficult words: own (when something belongs to you, it is yours), dangerous (not safe), court (the official place where people decide if someone breaks the law).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

Why do leaders say the company's apps are dangerous for children?
