The Eurovision changes rules – level 2
18-05-2026 15:00
Eurovision organizers changed the voting rules for this year’s contest. In the past, people could vote 20 times for their favorite song. Now, the limit is only 10 votes per person.
This change happened because some countries were running campaigns to get more votes. Last year, Israel got many public votes, and some people felt this was not fair. The contest now uses two groups to pick the winner: experts and viewers. Each group gives half of the points. Organizers believe that this makes the voting more professional. They also warned one singer who told fans to give all their votes to only one country. The goal of Eurovision is to make people vote for many different songs they like, rather than just one.
Difficult words: contest (a competition to see who is the best at something), campaign (planned activities to get a result which you want), viewer (a person who watches a TV program or a video).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Which two groups each give half of the points in the current Eurovision voting system?
