The first woman coach in Germany’s Bundesliga – level 2
22-04-2026 07:00
Marie-Louise Eta is the first woman to lead a men’s team in the German Bundesliga. Many journalists came to see her first training session, but Eta was not nervous.
For Eta, coaching is about trust and getting on well with players. It doesn’t matter if they are men or women. She already knows the team well because she worked as an assistant coach before. The fans in Berlin love her and call her Loui. But she has also faced some mean comments online. She says she doesn’t read them because they are not important.
Eta wants to show young girls that they can achieve anything in life. She is now a coach for a short time, but she is focused on winning her next five games.
Difficult words: trust (when you believe that someone is good, honest, and will not hurt you), mean (bad, nasty), achieve (to work hard and get what you want).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What does Eta believe is most important in her approach to coaching?
