American leaders feel differently about how the US participates in the world.

President Obama and President Bush said that it was good for America to work with others. President Trump said that other countries need to decide their future without the USA.

However, a survey of the American public shows that 7 of 10 people think that the country needs to do more throughout the world. They think that the USA needs to be part of world trade, help others, protect democracy and people, defend countries, who are friends to America, and keep America safe.

Three of ten people said that America needs to be part of world trade and diplomacy only.

Difficult words: participate (do something, take part), public (the people), diplomacy (the talks between countries, not fighting).
