This bus goes nowhere – level 3

05-05-2026 07:00

In Baden, Switzerland, twin brothers have launched a unique project called Line Zero.

This is not a normal bus service; it is a conceptual art project designed to improve social connections. During a three-week trial, the bus offers free rides but has no fixed route or specific destination.

The main goal is to encourage passengers to talk to each other and share experiences instead of just traveling from one point to another. The artists believe that modern cities often make people feel isolated. By removing the stress of a schedule, the bus becomes a moving public space. Passengers are encouraged to relax, sharpen their perception, and become more alive through interaction with strangers.

The project has captured global attention as an innovative way to build community. It explores how public art and design can fight loneliness and reshape how we think about transportation in the future.

Difficult words: conceptual art (art based on an idea or theory), isolated (alone or feeling lonely), perception (the way you notice or understand things using your senses).

How does Line Zero’s lack of a fixed route or schedule encourage passengers to engage with one another?
