TikTok has a special thing called a recommendation system. It suggests videos based on what you like. This makes TikTok different.

TikTok is popular all over the world. It shows videos which people like. TikTok learns fast from short videos about what you like. TikTok also helps you find new things you may like. This special thing starts with Douyin, a Chinese app. But these days, TikTok knows much better what users like to watch.

ByteDance owns TikTok. It is a Chinese company. China makes tricky rules about TikTok. Now, US officials ask ByteDance to sell its assets. If ByteDance does not do it, it may end in the US.

Difficult words: based on (to use an idea or situation as the point from which you develop something), user (a person who uses something), asset (a thing which belongs to a person or company).
