‘The Beach’ is a film.  People make it in 1999. They film it in Maya Bay, Thailand. Leonardo DiCaprio is in the film.

Due to the film, people start to visit Maya Bay. Around 4,000 people come every day! Animals and plants suffer. There are too many tourists! Scientists want to protect the beach. They close it for four months. They give the animals and plants time to get better. When the beach opens again in September, only 2,000 people a day will be allowed to come.

Difficult words: suffer (be under stress, be slowly destroyed), will (in the future), be allowed to (when you are allowed to do something, you can do it).
