Winter Olympics and the natural world – level 1
14-02-2022 07:00
The Winter Olympic Games are in China now. China uses modern technologies. These technologies are green. Green means that they do not harm the natural world.
All energy for the Games comes from the wind or gas. There are 800 buses. These buses use hydrogen. Hydrogen is a clean fuel.
China is a country with a bad history for the natural world. Chinese officials show that they care about the natural world. Some people still think that it is not enough.
The Games take place in the mountains. There is almost no snow in the mountains. Machines make all the snow from water. They need many months for it. They use a lot of water and electricity.
Difficult words: modern (new), hydrogen (a light gas which has no color), fuel (material such as petrol, wood, oil, or gas, which makes energy).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
