Women row across the Pacific – level 2
02-02-2016 15:00
Four British women became the first all-female team to row across the Pacific Ocean. They spent nine months at sea and rowed 13,600 kilometres.
In April 2015, they set off from San and on 25 January 2016, they arrived in Cairns, Australia. Their family and friends waited for them there, and they were very happy to see them.
On the way, the women encountered heavy storms, whales and sharks. The long trip raised money for charity.
Difficult words: row (to make a boat move by working a long stick which touches the water), set off (start), encounter (meet), raise (make).
You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
