World of Plastic – level 2
20-05-2019 15:00
The Basel Convention took effect in 1989, and it forbids developed countries to send their toxic waste to less developed countries.
On Friday 10th, 187 countries signed another agreement. The countries which signed agreed to limit plastic pollution. There are 195 countries in the world, and the USA was one of the countries which did not sign the agreement.
Difficult words: developed (rich, with technology), agreement (a plan to which countries agree – say ‘yes’ to the plan), pollution (things which people throw away).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
